Workload looks different in every workplace. The useful starting point is to find out which tasks are taking the most time and what members want to change. Use the NEU workload audit to start that discussion with your colleagues.
Start with the tasks that cause problems
Think about a normal working week. Which tasks regularly spill into evenings or weekends? Where are you duplicating work? Which expectations are unclear? Bring specific examples so the discussion leads to something practical.
You do not need to solve everything at once. Agree the main concerns as a union group and choose a small number of changes to raise with management. Keep a record of what you ask for and agree when you will review progress.
Use the audit with your rep
Download the NEU workload audit and work through it with your workplace rep and colleagues. Give everyone a chance to contribute, including people who cannot attend a meeting.
If you need help getting started, or do not have a rep, contact Rotherham NEU. We are stronger when we raise shared concerns together.
